MUST School of Business Successfully Launches Management Forum to Support Innovative Research and Build Communication Platform

Organized by the School of Business (MSB) of the Macau University of Science and Technology (MUST), the “Innovative Research: Good Examples and How to Induce Innovation” management forum was successfully held at N101 Hall of MUST on March 26, 2025. As part of MUST’s 25th anniversary celebrations, the forum invited Chair Professor T.C. Edwin Cheng, Dean of Faculty of Business at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Fung Yiu King – Wing Hang Bank Professor in Business Administration, Academician of the International Academy for Systems and Cybernetic Sciences, and Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences, as the distinguished speaker. He discussed practical paths of research and transformation strategies.

Alves, Dean of the Faculty of Business at City University of Macau; Professor Jenny Oliveros Lao Phillips, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Saint Joseph; Professor Wang Xin, Executive Dean of the Faculty of Business Administration at Macau Millennium College; Professor Sheng Ni, Dean of MSB at MUST; Doctor Tian Yihui, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Business at City University of Macau; Professor Felix Tung Sun Chan, Vice-Dean of MSB at MUST; Professor Zhang Xiaoquan, Honorary Director of the Macao Institute of Fin-Tech Innovation at MUST, and over 200 participants from mainland China, Macao universities, secondary schools, banks, institutions, teachers, and students of MUST.

Vice-President and Professor of Practice at MUST, Tong Ka Lok, delivered the welcome address and presented Professor T.C. Edwin Cheng with the MUST Honorary Professor Certificate in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of management. He stated that in the era of digital economy, innovation is the core driving force of national competitiveness and societal progress. From artificial intelligence reshaping industries to green technologies combating climate challenges, and from digital transformations in business models to interdisciplinary research that broadens horizons, innovation is always an indispensable key element in development. As a multi-disciplinary university with the largest number of students in Macao, MUST should stay at the forefront and continue to promote innovative research.

Chair Professor Cheng delivered a speech on the “Innovation Chain from Academic Exploration to Industrial Application”, sharing various topics related to economic and business development. His insights were presented from a multidimensional perspective, combining his experiences in academic research, higher education management, and top-tier journal editing. He first explained the essence of creativity and innovation, then systematically introduced practical tools to facilitate creative thinking, and provided in-depth analysis of the key elements of promoting innovative development and how to effectively achieve the application transformation of research results.

Over the years, MUST has always upheld the university motto, enhancing cultural exchanges and promoting collaborations between industries, academia, and research. MSB continues to cooperate with colleges and universities worldwide to build a cross-regional academic exchange platform, facilitate cooperation with universities and enterprises in the Greater Bay Area, and strive to cultivate business and administrative management talents with an international perspective.
