25th Anniversary Celebration: Lectures by Eminent Scholars specializing in Portuguese (Session 3)
To celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the Macau University of Science and Technology, the Portuguese Program of UIC will invite four experts and scholars to share their knowledge with the Portuguese students in March and April 2025. The guests include Associate Professor Liao Yiran from Tsinghua University, Associate Professor Zhang Weiqi from Shanghai Foreign Studies University, Professor Silvana Ribeiro from Universidade Federal de Bahia in Brazil, and Professor Alexandra Curvelo from Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal. Through the four lectures, the students in Portuguese Major will be able to learn about the cutting-edge research trends, academic achievements and career prospects in Mainland China, Portugal and Brazil, which provided the most effective information for students to further their studies or find employment in the future.
Lecturer: Prof. Dr. Silvana Ribeiro
Full Professor at Universidade Federal da Bahia and a PQ2 researcher by the Leading Researcher Program of the Brazilian Ministry of Education. She is an expert in Sociolinguistics, in the field of Linguistic Diversity, Dialectology, and Geolinguistics. She is currently the Scientific Director of the Brazil Linguistic Atlas. She is also a researcher in the NURC project (Urban Norm Center). Prof. Ribeiro has received many awards and has worked in research projects with the University Paris 13, in France.
